Interpretation and translation services
Interpretation and translation services promote smooth communication and conduct of affairs as well as the legal safety of the parties.
As a client of social and health care services, you have the right to services in your native language if you are unable to communicate in Finnish. Interpretation will be provided as needed if the client and the staff do not have a common language. When making an appointment, let us know if you need an interpreter.
Interpretation and translation services are free of charge to the client. The wellbeing services county is responsible for booking an interpreter.
The Integration Act stipulates that, in accordance with the Language Act, an authority shall, if necessary, provide for interpretation or translation. Provisions on interpretation are also laid down in other legislation, such as the Administrative Act, the Aliens Act, as well as the Act on the Status and Rights of Patients.
Sign language interpretation
If you need a sign language interpreter, you have the statutory right to free interpretation. Depending on the situation, interpretation is paid for either by Kela or by the public authority.
