Call 116 117 before you come to the dental emergency department.
The dental emergency department provides care in urgent oral and dental emergencies, such as major swelling of the mouth or mandibles, acute and intense pain, severe bleeding, and accidental facial injuries. If these symptoms are associated with difficulties breathing or swallowing, or a high fever, please contact the emergency department urgently.
Dentists are available on call every day from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., but the emergency department will not accept new patients after 8 p.m. If your tooth becomes extremely sore during the night, the emergency department may administer pain relief.
Emergency social services are provided 24 hours a day to ensure the availability of urgent, indispensable help. The emergency social services also assist and consult other authorities as necessary.

In case of a sudden crisis
Potential traumatic crises may include the death or serious illness of a close person, becoming the victim of domestic, sexual, or other violence, or “close calls” involving the aforementioned.

Tell a professional about your self-destructive ideation in order to receive the best possible assistance in your situation.
Akuutti24 psychiatric nurse
The psychiatric nurse at Akuutti24 conducts assessments of the need for specialised care for patients of all ages, and refers patients for further treatment in collaboration with the on-call physician. You can seek an assessment from the psychiatric nurse in cases of:
- acute suicidal ideation
- intense anxiety
- severe depression
- delusional, confused, or manic condition
- You can also seek help at Akuutti24 in case an acute crisis befalls you at a time when other crisis services are not available.
Instructions
When you have problems related to your mental health, you can seek help from your own social services and health care centre (doctor, psychiatric nurse, psychologist). In an urgent situation where help is immediately needed, call the Medical Helpline at tel. 116117 who will guide you to the correct service, Akuutti24, emergency social services. In case of an emergency, call 112.
In the labour and delivery ward, the well-being of the pregnant woman and her child are ensured both prior to delivery and thereafter.
The Obstetric and women’s emergency department, located in conjunction with the labour and delivery ward, treats all pregnant people in need of urgent care, those in need of urgent gynaecological care, as well as victims of sex crimes.
Do the following
- When you arrive to give birth, or if you need urgent assistance, you can come to the labour and delivery ward without calling beforehand.
- You can come to the labour and delivery ward with your spouse, another support person, or a doula. Remember to bring your maternity clinic card when coming to the hospital
In any other urgent matters, please call before arriving for a midwife’s assessment of the need for care.
- Always keep your maternity clinic card with you throughout your pregnancy and bring it with you to the hospital as well
